Not surveillance by the few.

The idea that people must constantly be "stationed" somewhere, manning something, checking something, doing some redundant task just to stay employed.
For centuries, societies ran on the assumption that someone had to watch the door, hand you the form, stamp the thing, answer the call, be at the counter, whether or not the work had any real cognitive or creative value. Entire infrastructures were built around gatekeeping labor — jobs that weren't meaningful, just necessary in a mechanical system.
But that's not the case anymore.
Not because people are less capable — because the need to station humans as system nodes is gone.
Technology can now handle it.
